Makerspaces,Hackerspace, fab-labs, and other creative workshops of different names will likely need a training system for use with insurance, safety and peace of mind.
- This system should have clear guides.
- It should include a practical test.
- It should record who has been trained.
To train others to use equipment and tools
- Trainers are people who train or induct others to use equipment and tools safety while giving a basic overview of its uses.
- Certain pieces of equipment may require more than one session. for example, metal and welding is often broken up into segments.
To Train new users
Step One. Theory:
Online content, covering everything required in 3 areas.
- Health and Safety: Fire, Risk Assessment, COSHH, Specific dangers.
- How To: Covering equipment, tool, any hardware or software.
- Culture: How we use the workshops, showing what you make, feedback
Test: A test about the above. 100% is the only pass.
Digital Form: Use a tracking form for this (excel, sheets)
Data saved: time, date, name and email of the trainee and trainer.
Step Two. Practical:
The trainee now needs to have a practical.
